Tweetolectology:

Investigating the diffusion of morphosyntactic innovations using social media

We are a group of researchers interested in the ways in which language changes spread through the population. In order to answer questions about the variation between speakers and between regions, we're using data from social-media platforms like Twitter to build an up-to-date picture of how languages like English, Welsh, Norwegian, and Turkish are being used right now.

For more information, we have a quick introduction to our research. Throughout this project, presentations and publications will be available here; for news, see our Twitter or Facebook pages.

Current news: We will be hosting an online conference on morphosyntactic variation and change as part of the project in March 2021. We look forward to seeing you there!
